What is BAS?

The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in British and American Studies (BAS) is the first humanities-based undergraduate international programme offered by the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University. The programme was developed in full recognition of the growing importance of the need to understand the cultures of the United Kingdom and the United States, both in their own right and as major influences on the rest of the world, especially on the region of Southeast Asia. Such an understanding is deemed necessary for effective integration and application of specialised knowledge in the multicultural community of the present era of globalisation.

You will broaden your knowledge as you explore the distinctive features of British and American societies through an interdisciplinary approach that covers the English language, literature, history, politics, the arts and the social sciences.

You will familiarise yourself with different career paths both in the academic and private sectors. Our graduates are currently employed in academia, diplomatic bodies, commercial institutions, entertainment business, translation firms, tourist industry, etc.

You will deepen your communicative skills as you study in an international English-medium programme, taught entirely by native speakers of British and American varieties of English.

You will have an opportunity to participate in a study abroad programme for up to one academic year at a selected institution, not only in the USA or the UK, but other countries around the world.
